From breastfeeding to friendly bacteria, we look at the little ways you can make a big difference to your baby’s health.

This is such an exciting time, welcoming your baby into the world, and while this is a happy time, you’ll also both need support.

Udo’s Choice Infant’s Blend, with its superior quality of six infant specific strains of ‘friendly bacteria’, can be a very helpful addition to your baby’s feeds. As a mum of two girls, I found Udo’s Choice Infant’s Blend was a great way to support their gut flora.  Udo’s Choice Infant’s Blend may provide the beneficial bacteria that can be missing if your baby was born via caesarean section and is formulated to support digestive health. If your baby’s milk isn’t getting digested properly it may cause wind, pain and nappy rash due to the acidic nature of the faeces. Udo’s Choice Infant’s Blend is formulated to help support your baby’s digestive health up to five years of age.

Tasteless and easy to use, simply mix half a teaspoon of Udo’s Choice Infant’s Blend powder into expressed breast milk or formula, place some powder around the nipple, or make it up into a paste and place in the mouth. If you have children up to fi ve years of age, you can add it into their juice, cereal and yoghurt. But please do not add to hot food.

Back to school/starting crèche or after an illness are also ideal times to add microbiotics to your baby’s and child’s diet. Udo’s Choice has been supporting digestive health for families in Ireland for the past 20 years. Find Udo’s Choice Infant’s Blend in the fridge in-store.

Did you know Ireland has the lowest percentage for breastfeeding in the world? During  breastfeeding (which 50% of new mums in Ireland do initially, but this drops to 6% within six months compared to 98% in Scandinavian countries) you may experience sore and inflamed nipples.

Manuka Breast Pad -Blog Image - p4-Max- 900x400px

Manuka Health Breast Pads may be just what you need – they may help enhance breastfeeding success. The pads contain medical grade MGO™ 400+ Manuka Honey, which is healing, soothing for mum and safe for baby. Each pad has a flexible cloth backing and is designed to absorb milk leakages whilst cooling and comforting on contact.

I recommend placing them in the fridge between feeds for maximum benefit. They can absorb three times their weight in fluid. Honey in general is not recommended for babies under a year, but these pads are sterilised and safe for baby without causing any damage to the quality of the honey. A must-have product for mums.
